The Hudson Chorale, under the artistic direction of Michael Conley, is a new 90-voice chorus comprised of members of the two oldest choral groups in Westchester County: the Westchester Concert Singers and the Choral Arts Society. We are a collegial ensemble of men and women dedicated to the joy of music making. Some of our singers have had extensive musical training, others less, but all our members have in common their passion for performing outstanding choral music at an exceptionally high standard. We range in age from college students to retirees, come from varied backgrounds, work in different fields, and come together from all over Westchester and surrounding areas.
Our repertoire includes a wide range of choral literature, from early music to contemporary pieces, from well known choral masterpieces to more unique works, including newly-commissioned compositions. The size of our new chorus, the disciplined musicianship of our members, and the eclectic nature of our repertoire enable us to perform a broad range of music successfully, and to bring to every audience a rich musical experience.
We rehearse every Monday night from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm at the Scarborough Presbyterian Church, 655 Scarborough Road (Route 9 and Scarborough Road), Briarcliff Manor, NY. We give two performances each season: one in mid-winter and one in the spring.
Our mid-winter concert this season will be on Saturday, December 10, at 8:00 pm at Dobbs Ferry High School, Dobbs Ferry, NY. Entitled "Carols and Lullabies", the festive holiday program for chorus, small orchestra and solo instruments will delight concert goers with works by Johannes Brahms and Stephen Chatman, three settings of O Magnum Mysterium – by Morten Lauridsen, Giovanni Gabrieli, and our own Music Director, Michael Conley – and a magical work by Conrad Susa, Carols and Lullabies: Christmas in the Southwest, which features accompaniment on harp, guitar, and marimba.
Our second concert of the season will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 8:00 pm, and will feature John Knowles Paine’s Mass in D, a thrilling and rarely performed romantic masterpiece which premiered in 1867 as America’s first large-scale work for chorus and orchestra.

The mission of the Hudson Chorale is to entertain and inspire audiences with a wide range of sacred and secular choral music, and to offer our singers a deeply satisfying opportunity to learn and perform this music at an exceptionally high standard.
